playing requests

OK, all you lovelies, I listened and now I am delivering.  In some of the comments from the other day I had a few dear readers request to see pictures of my hair.  So without further ado:

and

(hey,  next time, i might try cleaning the mirror first before taking pictures…sorry)

These were taken Friday on my way out the door to visit my mom and auntie.  Using my new scarf ring (more about that on a later post), I did a simple “criss-cross” knot with my Express silk scarf (I found this years ago at a second-hand store–it is really pretty).  The rest of my outfit is JJill Wearever.  Because of the golden hues in the scarf,

I chose to wear my amber earrings–a souvenir from the Dominican Republic last fall.

And of course you will remember the velvet handbag being a very recent acquisition.  So that was moi on Friday as I flitted off to visit family.

My day wasn’t complete until I could be home and ensconced in this little luxury:

Say what you will, I love it.  Pink.  Quilted.  Warm.  Three-quarters sleeves for problem free toast buttering in the mornings.  Not one, but two! pockets to house tissues, future false teeth and readers.

You must know that this isn’t exactly what I had in mind for my quilted, vintage robe.  I was actually envisioning something more fitted with a belt.  There was one on Ebay not long ago that was by Christian Dior, champagne color.  It was tres chic…and I let it go.  Big mistake.  It was the type of elegance dreams are made of.  The sort of robe that gives permission to the eating of bon bons in bed all day and wearing high-heeled slippers.  Sigh.  Alas, it is gone.  And did I mention this one was only $10?

One last thought…a shout out to Ellen Alive! for bringing over some amazing cupcakes tonight.  I love neighbors.  Thank you, Ellen.

  1. You look beautiful, Bliss. I think it suits you and shows off your amazing cheekbones and eyes! Love that scarf too.

    • Aw, thanks. Beautiful is seriously a stretch though. And I hope you weren’t judging my “amazing” cheekbones by the first picture as I have my cheeks sucked in in “surprise” formation–attempting to be goofy. If we all walked around like that we could all enjoy cheekbones. : ) ~~Bliss

  2. I agree – beautiful! Now for pictures of you in the robe LOL.

  3. Ellen

First off – love the hair. Very becoming. Second off (is that right?) – so glad you mentioned the “filthy” mirror. I was afraid you were leaving the house in soiled clothing. ha!
The pink robe . . . . . the two pockets save the day.
Thirdly (pretty sure that’s a word) – you’re welcome on the cupcakes. How was the Red Velvet for breakfast? I’m having Raisin Bran – I’m the good girl, you’re the bad one.

  4. Your hair looks great! Really it does! Thanks for showing us the robe, it does look like it’ll keep you warm.
Lastly, I love that handbag. I’m off to London for the day next Saturday and am trying to decide which bag will be big enough to carry all I need – I think your one would be perfect!!

    • Thank you for you comments. In regards to the bag, it is surprisingly roomy and I love wearing it. I did get a little nervous being around my mom with it…she kept commenting about how much she liked it. I may have to go on another hunt for her. ~~Bliss

  5. Gorgeous, doll! — that sounded a little Kardashian. You look more sophisticated with shorter hair. Your eyes realy pop, and the hair complements those feminine curves. Now you can try even more scarf tying tricks!

    • I am probably the only person that doesn’t know what “Kardashian” sounds like so I will take it as only a Cupcake Compliment. It is nice that you see my “eyes” popping because I only see the baggage I carrying underneath them. ~~Bliss

I LOVE it! Check you out!! ;)

  7. You look gorgeous! You have such beautiful curls and I’m green with envy over your green eyes.
And that scarf tie – very clever. You are going on my Pinterest scarf tying board today.

The handbag is so chic – if you ever want to get rid of it (not sure why anyone would part with such a beauty) call me.

    xo, A

  8. Beautiful new ‘do Bliss and I had to laugh at your description of the housecoat (for future tissues, false teeth, etc). All you need in 50 years is your Sophia purse and glasses on the chain and you’re good to go. LOL

  9. I love how you let it stay curly in the back and straighten it up front. I just don’t know if my curls would behave long enough. Product hints?
Love the details on the robe but in my book it’s the 3/4 sleeves not interfering with my buttered toast that stood out. I’m afraid my wardrobe leans more on practicality than style.

    • I have to strighten my bangs because they don’t curl nicely–ever. Products? No miracle ones I am afraid. I have been using Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and a clear gel for styling. Have you ever seen the book, “Curly Girl–The Handbook” by Lorraine Massey. Very helpful and a library must have for curly girls. ~~Blis

  10. You’re so pretty!!! Those eyes!
