weekly photo challenge ~~ merge

I had a really good idea for this challenge but I must save it for a future post.  This photo was taken last September when Summer was “merging” into Fall.  Can’t believe we are almost at that door again.  Plus, I like how the bridge, in effect, is merging two roads together.

Enjoy your weekend!!

weekly photo challenge ~~ wrong

I have mentioned before  how disturbing it was to see so many homeless dogs while traveling around the Dominican Republic.  It is wrong on so many counts.

I realize it happens everywhere not just in the D.R.   However, the frequency of how often I saw these poor strays was truly overwhelming.

Sorry, not too cheerful of a post but what did you expect with a theme called “wrong”?  I almost posted a picture of  a welt-the-size-of-Texas I got on my upper thigh from a bug* bite/sting on my first day in the Dominican.  Now that was wrong!

See you tomorrow!

*no, i don’t know what it was so i dubbed it the ‘damned devil bug’.

weekly photo challenge ~~ growth

On our recent trip to Chicago, I was impressed with the “growth” of grasses on a nearby rooftop–creating a summery, beachy pool area smack dab in the middle of the concrete city.  So cool.

Happy Saturday!

weekly photo challenge ~~ inside

I am not usually a “cat” person.  I have never had the desire to have one as a pet.  That is until I saw her:

I was in a local thrift shop whose proceeds support an animal shelter.  The store also has various cats roaming around that are eligible for adoption.  When I saw this petite snow tiger, I wanted her.  I couldn’t coax her outside of her fort…she stayed inside.  She demurely purred though when I petted her.  I could tell she liked me.   I even dragged Master Bliss back into the store to take a peek, convinced his heart would melt into a solid “yes, of course we must adopt her”.    It didn’t.  I still wonder if she has found a good home.  Thankfully I know the adoption process is quite involved, designed to weed out the whackadoodles.  I know because I asked.

Enjoy your Sunday!

weekly photo challenge ~~ movement

Back in April we traveled to Pennsylvania for a couples’ shower for the Kiddos.  I shot some pictures of them dancing…getting a glimpse of  dance of life they would shortly be doing together forever.  This, I believe, was a salsa:

Also on the trip, we drove the entire time out there in the rain.  We always hoped for a break in the weather when it was time to stop to take a “break”.  Never happened.  This is Master Bliss making a fast break for his “break”.

Both pictures are of fast movements with purpose.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

weekly photo challenge ~~ fleeting moment…a series

May 12, 2012

Belle Fille’s Wedding Day.

I captured the following photos when our photographer had the Father of the Bride come into the dressing area for a first reveal of his only daughter ready to be given in marriage to another:

Definitely one of the sweetest, most heartfelt, fleeting moments I have ever witnessed.

Have a fantabulous weekend everyone!

glowing contrast

Master Bliss and I were finishing up a walk the other night when we passed our local, gorgeous Bed and Breakfast.  The way the sun was hitting the hydrangeas just made them glow.  I said out loud, “That would make a great shot in black and white.”  When I got home, I grabbed the camera and my bike and headed back.  What do you think?

I tried to capture as many contrasts as I could with the flowers, the iron fencing, the arbor, the gazebo, the pine tree.  There is so much to enjoy in this beautifully landscaped yard.

I am so happy it is summer.

writer’s block…

…so enjoy another lily.

I do have things to say but they are all jumbled in my mind.  I’ll be back…I think. : )
