I had a really good idea for this challenge but I must save it for a future post.  This photo was taken last September when Summer was “merging” into Fall.  Can’t believe we are almost at that door again.  Plus, I like how the bridge, in effect, is merging two roads together.

I am not usually a “cat” person.  I have never had the desire to have one as a pet.  That is until I saw her:

I was in a local thrift shop whose proceeds support an animal shelter.  The store also has various cats roaming around that are eligible for adoption.  When I saw this petite snow tiger, I wanted her.  I couldn’t coax her outside of her fort…she stayed inside.  She demurely purred though when I petted her.  I could tell she liked me.   I even dragged Master Bliss back into the store to take a peek, convinced his heart would melt into a solid “yes, of course we must adopt her”.    It didn’t.  I still wonder if she has found a good home.  Thankfully I know the adoption process is quite involved, designed to weed out the whackadoodles.  I know because I asked.

CREATE.

I wish I could create more.  Or rather, I wish I could create something new, unique, unheard of, inspiring.  Instead, if I do get creative around here, it is usually to just copy something I have seen somewhere else.  I want to be the person who has the idea…at least once.

These are going to be “repeat” photos that many of you have seen already.  Belle Fille’s recent wedding really got my creative juices flowing.   So proudly, if not a bit shabbily, I made a few things.  Remember this?

Close up details of the embellishments I put on the book clutches I made for the bride and her bridesmaids.  You can see a tutorial here (not MY tutorial because it wasn’t MY idea).

And I made this:

To hold the gift cards at the reception.  Again, not my idea.  I was inspired by another wedding I had attended the week before Belle Fille’s.  So in a mad dash rush, I shopped for and bought everything I needed to make one in just three days time.  Thankfully it turned out.

Do you enjoy creating things?  Are you the one who comes up with the bright idea or are you the copycat?  And for the deeper thinkers, are there any truly original ideas?  Ponder on, dear friends.

I hope y’all don’t get tired of all my flower shots.  I don’t get tired of taking them.  Which is why I always have one to show…so it seems.  This week’s challenge is “close”.  It didn’t take me long to remember this photo I took just a few days ago.  All the lilies started blooming around here at once.  I went to the side yard to check on the tiger lilies–one of my favorites–only to find they didn’t bloom well this year.  They barely lifted themselves from the ground at all.  I was shocked by how “close” this particular bloom was to the earth…far from the tall, regal stature one expects from this flower.  But she is still a beauty.  A little lily.

I think she wanted to be a water-lily in this blooming life.

For the record, I do have other “friendships”…with actual people.  I am not a freakish “dog lady” even though I take pictures of Rockefeller often  all the time.  But I really didn’t understand that phrase– about a dog being man’s best friend– until I got one.  It’s amazing.  And I love it.
